Got your clothes wet from rain and mud? Here are 7 tips to protect yourself from germs
The nature of the monsoon is such that it will start suddenly with heavy rain or intermittently with sleet throughout the day. Water will accumulate on the roads, and mud will splash on your clothes as you walk. There is no way out except to accept this little inconvenience. However, it is necessary to take care that germs do not spread from the inconvenience. To prevent germs from spreading from your clothes, you need to take care of some things.
Got your clothes wet from rain and mud? Here are 7 tips to protect yourself from germs
1. Change wet clothes
Many people in this country spit and cough freely on the roads. The germs from the phlegm and spit also mix with the water and mud that accumulates on the roads. Therefore, if the water or mud that accumulates on the roads gets on your clothes, you must wash them. You cannot make the mistake of going straight to bed without changing your clothes after returning home. You should also remember that if your clothes are left wet for a long time, other germs can also grow on your clothes.
2. Do not store clothes in wet conditions
You may have to wash several days’ worth of clothes at once at your home. However, try not to store these clothes like that. If you absolutely have to leave them, you can keep a few hangers separate at home, so that you can hang these dirty clothes until you wash them. The clothes will dry while hanging. This will reduce the risk of bacterial infection. If wet clothes are piled up and left somewhere, bacteria can spread. 3. Towels and heavily soiled clothes
Towels are quite thick. Therefore, they stay wet for a long time. Therefore, bacteria can easily grow on them. Towels used for personal hygiene, towels used for kitchen work, etc. should be washed separately. If any other clothes become heavily soiled, wash them separately.
4. Sun, wind, heat
You can use warm water to wash clothes that are not damaged by washing in hot water. You may not get much opportunity to dry clothes in the sun and wind during the rainy season. However, try to hang clothes on the balcony at least. If there is no sun, you can iron the clothes after drying them in the air.
5. Keep your laundry equipment clean
Keep the buckets, bowls, mugs, etc. used for washing clothes clean. These should be cleaned occasionally. If you use a washing machine, be sure to maintain them properly. 6. Keep the laundry basket clean
You can store dry clothes in the laundry basket for a few days. However, some microorganisms can spread from these too, especially in humid weather. So clean this laundry basket occasionally. You can use detergent or disinfectant solution for this purpose.
7. Don’t forget to wash your hands
If you move the clothes while they are dirty, you should also clean your hands thoroughly afterwards. Then the germs from the dirty clothes will not get a chance to spread through your hands. This habit of washing hands will keep you and your family safe.
